Peter Wiens

Associate Professor of Teacher Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in the United States. After earning a Ph.D. at the University of Virginia (USA), Dr. Wiens was an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (USA), and a teacher and school administrator in the United States, Taiwan, and Niger for more than a dozen years. Dr. Wiens’s teaching focuses on the master’s degree and graduate certificate in Leadership for Teachers and Professionals. He conducts research designed to understand the experiences and attitudes towards teacher leadership in preK-12 schools.

Jana Hunzicker

Is a professor in the Department of Education, Counseling, and Leadership and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Education and Health Sciences at Bradley University in Peoria, IL. She has worked as an eighth-grade language arts teacher, middle school dean of students, and elementary school principal. Currently, Dr. Hunzicker teaches in and coordinates Bradley’s online Ed.D. in educational leadership program. She especially enjoys mentoring doctoral students in research and scholarly writing. Dr. Hunzicker has authored over 75 journal articles and book chapters. Her research interests include teacher leadership, higher education leadership, and professional development.

Currently an assistant professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Alabama, and the coordinator for the Teacher Leader Ed.S. His background includes 22 years in the military in a variety of leadership roles both as a Non-Commission Officer and as a Commissioned Officer. He has experience as a Police Officer, Teacher, Principal, and Director of Alternative Programs. Dr. Bergeron has undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice and Social Science Secondary Education. He has Master’s degrees in public administration, Social Science Education, and Educational Leadership, an Education Specialist Degree and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership.

Jacob D. Skousen

Earned an Ed.D. from Boise State University in 2015 and joined the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) faculty in 2019. He also has a Master of Arts degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in bilingual education, and a Master of Education degree in educational leadership and administration. Dr. Skousen is an assistant professor in educational policy and leadership in the Department of Educational Psychology, Leadership, and Higher Education. Prior to UNLV, Dr. Skousen spent three years as an assistant professor in educational leadership and policy studies at the University of Northern Colorado. As a researcher, having had 15 years as a practitioner in P-12 education, as a teacher, instructional coach, and principal, he works to bridge theory and practice. Dr. Skousen has a research agenda focused on leadership development and equity. He also is the coordinator of the Executive Educational Leadership Program.

Africa Delegate

Associate Professor in the Education Management and Policy Studies Department in the Faculty of Education of the University of Pretoria. He was a school principal for thirteen years in a teaching career of 31 years at three different schools. Andre has presented papers at international conferences in South Africa, Switzerland, Bulgaria and China. He has supervised and co-supervised 18 Masters students and 8 PhD students to completion. He taught Classroom Management and Leadership t undergraduate level and has supervised and co-supervised 18 Masters students and 8 PhD students to completion. He is the author/co-author of 23 peer reviewed publications.
Southwest Asia/Middle East Delegate
Norma Ghamrawi

Full professor of educational leadership & management with a PhD from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. She has an extensive experience 25+ years in teaching, training and international education development in the Middle East, Europe and Northern Africa. She has work experience with international organizations in more than 20 countries on small to large-scale projects. Additionally, she is an international trainer and has developed training material, and has trained senior officials for several governments. Her research interest falls into school leadership, teacher leadership, middle leadership, school improvement, and digital leadership. Moreover, she is an advocate of digital technologies for school improvement and leveraging education quality.

Assistant Professor at Lusófona University, Lisbon, Portugal. Before she taught at the Polytechnic (2009-2014) and in the High School (1987-2014). She has been a certified teacher trainer since 1998 and an integrated member of the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development (CeiED) since 2011. In 2023, she became an expert in the Portuguese schools' external assessment process.
North America and Canada Delegate
Kirk Anderson

Professor of Educational Administration at Memorial University and completed a Ph.D. (reflecting my teacher leadership journey) with a thesis “The Antecedents and Influences on Teacher Leadership in Schools.” During my time as a teacher and principal, I served as a Branch President, Small Schools’ Special Interest Council President, School Administrator Regional President, and part of NL Teachers Collective Bargaining Team. I have been an education professor at the U Saskatchewan, U Calgary, and U New Brunswick (where I was associate dean) before joining Memorial University in 2011. In 2007 I received the teaching excellence award from the U Calgary Graduate Students’ Association. I served as Dean for the Faculty of Education from 2011-2019 and am also the former President of the Association of Canadian Deans of Education and former Vice President of the Canadian Society for Studies in Education. In 2017 I served as a panel member on the NLTA Panel of Public Education. I am also active in Indigenous, rural, and isolated school research. In 2012 I was appointed as a member of the University of the Arctic Indigenous Issues Committee and was appointment the UArctic Chair for School Effectiveness-School Improvement in 2022.

Professor in Educational in the Faculty of Education at the University of Melbourne. His teaching and research explores all aspects of school leadership including successful school leadership and middle/teacher leadership. He is a founding member of the International Successful School Principalship Project and the International School Leadership Development Network. David is a prolific writer and presenter with more than 200 publications and more than 200 international conference presentations.
South/Central America and the Caribbean
Carmel Roofe

Professor in Curriculum and Instruction in the School of Education, at The University of the West Indies, Mona. She currently serves as the programme co-ordinator for masters and doctoral programmes in Curriculum Studies and is the co-founder and current president of the Caribbean Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies. Her career in teaching spans leading, training, and teaching at the higher education and secondary school levels of the education system. She has served as a consultant with the World Bank and the Ministry of Education, Jamaica, and as a resource person for the Commonwealth of Learning. She is an avid researcher and has authored several peer reviewed journal articles, special issue journals, books and book chapters.

Professional Consultant at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Faculty of Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her publications have appeared in international peer-reviewed journals such as the Asia-Pacific Journal of Teacher Education, Teachers and Teaching, Educational Management Administration and Leadership, Cambridge Journal of Education, Journal of Education for Teaching, School Leadership and Management, International Journal of Leadership in Education, among others. Her primary research interests include teacher leadership, teacher education and development, as well as differentiated instruction.
